Julia Tonsberg

Julia Tonsberg holds a MA in Dramaturgy from Aarhus University with the thesis “Danish Theatre in a Cosmopolitical Perspective”. In 2019 she did an internship at the Danish Cultural Institute in the Baltics working with cultural exchanges between Denmark and the Baltic states. Since September 2021 she has been a PhD Fellow at the department of Dramaturgy and Musicology at Aarhus University where she is part of the project Artistic Exchanges: The Royal Danish Theatre and Europe. Some of her research interests include cosmopolitanism, feminism, global ethics, censorship, and politics – all in relation to theatre. She is currently researching the work of the Danish playwright Emma Gad in the context of female scenic emancipation and nation building in the late 19th century.
